FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - April 9, 2012 – Biscomerica Corp. is recalling its Knott's Berry Farm 12/8/2 display cartons as described in our product description (item numbers # 59680 Boysenberry, #59675 Blueberry, # 59670 Raspberry and # 59695 Strawberry). Each carton contains eight 2 ounce packages of Knott's Berry Farm cookies. The Knott's Berry Farm 12/8/2 cartons comes in 4 flavors Boysenberry, Blueberry, Raspberry and Strawberry, one case represents one flavor each carton represent one flavor. Each case has 12 cartons with 8 bags at 2 ounces each. This product may contain undeclared Milk. People who have allergies to Milk, run the risk of serious or life threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.
The recalled Knott's Berry Farm 12/8/2 Boysenberry, Blueberry, Raspberry and Strawberry cookies in display cartons were distributed between August 01, 2011 and April 05, 2012. This product was distributed nationwide in retail stores and through mail orders. Knott's Berry Farm 12/8/2 was distributed to Calgary, BC, American Canyon, CA, Anaheim, CA, Berkeley, CA, City Industry, CA, Commerce, CA, Concord, CA, Corona, CA, Chatsworth, CA, Encino, CA, El Cajon, CA, Irwindale, CA, Long Beach, CA, Los Angeles, CA, Napa, CA, San Jose, CA, San Leandro, CA, San Ysidro, CA, San Diego, CA, South El Monte, CA, Spring Valley, CA, Vernon, CA, Denver, CO, Miami, FL, Hilo, HI, Honolulu, HI, Indianapolis, IN, Grand Rapids, M,I Washington, MD, Gibbstown, NJ, Nassau, NS, Bronx, NY, College Point, NY, Delta, OH, Mountville, PA, North Kingstown, RI, Dallas, TX, Seattle, WA and Green Bay, WI through retail stores.
The product comes in a 16 ounce carton with 8 individual packages at 2 ounce each. Product identified as Knott's Berry farm 12/8/2 Boysenberry Cookies, Blueberry Cookies, Raspberry Cookies and Strawberry Cookies in a elongated display carton H.S" X L.10.25" X W.4.5".
Code dates with expiration date between the range of April 01, 2012 and December OS, 2012 (Example: AB040112 through AB120512) AB, BB or CB represents shift produced 08 (Month) 01 (Day) 11 (Year). Code date is located on back of bag in upper left hand corner. Outer carton code date will be represented by a white sticker located on rear of case. (Example: 1040112 through 1120512) 1, 2 or 3 represents shift 04 (month) 01 (day) 12 (year).
No illnesses have been reported to date in connection with this problem.
The recall was initiated after it was discovered that allergen labeling of Milk was not properly identified. Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by Biscomerica's interpretation of the word "Whey". Whey is identified on all packaging, but is not clearly identified as Milk.
Production of the product has been suspended until FDA and the Biscomerica are certain that the problem has been corrected.
Consumers who have purchased Knott's Berry Farm Boysenberry, Blueberry, Raspberry or Strawberry 12/8/2 purchased in display form, are urged to return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
